Dr Seuss Birthday - March 2nd

What school year would be complete without celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2nd.  We spend the day wearing pajamas and reading LOTS and LOTS of Dr Seuss books, like Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and One Fish, Two Fish.  These books allow for lots of great integrated learning!

*Please note: All free printables are only for readers of Creative Preschool Resources . If you enjoy this printable, please take a second to "follow" us to recieve email updates {top sidebar}. Thank you!

Make "Cat" hats like the one worn in The Cat in the Hat.  Print this out onto red construction paper.  PDF downloadON THE BACK SIDE have kids add white stripes.  Then turn over and cut the hat shape out {which will trim the white stripes exactly right}.  Attach it to a band and voila, you have a great little hat.

After reading One Fish, Two Fish have kids use assorted color "Swedish Fish" candies to practice patterning.  Some kiddos used kid tweezers to build our fine motor muscles.  We also make color patterns on paper using paint or crayons.  Download fish pattern PDF

These cuties just LOVED painting their patterns.

Take the kids fishing for letters, 3 letter words or sight words {depending on what you are working on}.  Cut the paper fish out, add a paperclip to the mouth of each fish and throw them into a pretend pond.  Use magnets and anything that can make be a long stick to "fish" for letters or words.  Enjoy!  My kids LOVE this activity!  {And yes, we wore our PJ's to school that day}

What Dr Seuss day would be complete without eating Green Eggs and Ham?  We make that every year using an electric griddle and do scrambled eggs with ham mixed in {seems to be more popular with the younger folks}.  Yum!  Hope you have as much fun celebrating as we did!

Happy Dr Seuss Day!
